The mission of the Children’s Museum of Brownsville is to provide a fun and safe environment for children to learn and grow. However, the Children's Museum of Brownsville reserves the right to place any child in "time-out" for a period of time if the child exhibits any of the following behaviors:
- Disrespectful behavior towards:
- Camp instructors
- Fellow campers
- CMB staff members
- CMB volunteers
- Disruptive behavior, including:
- Not following directions or instructions
- Engaging in activities that could harm themselves or others
Please note: One "time-out" is considered the first warning. Two consecutive "time-outs" constitute the second warning, and so on.
- A third warning will result in a call to the parents or guardians to take the child home. The camper will be welcome to return the next day.
- Dismissal from camp, in extreme circumstances, including:
- Severe disrespect towards camp instructors
- Severe disrespect towards fellow campers
- Severe disrespect towards CMB staff members
- Severe disrespect towards CMB volunteers
- Damage to CMB exhibits
- Damage to fellow campers' property
- Damage to camp instructors' property
Staff Code of Conduct Guidelines:
- All staff have passed a background check and have acknowledged appropriate childcare guidelines.
- No child will be left alone with an adult at any point.
- Group restroom breaks will be supervised by one staff member and one volunteer. Staff and volunteers will not enter the stalls in the restroom while children are using the facilities. Children must be potty trained.
- Staff and volunteers will assist with ensuring that hands are washed and dried properly.
- Single-person restroom breaks will be accompanied by one staff member and one volunteer.
- A camera system is operational in the classroom and hallways of the building to ensure safety and security.
